President's Report

Greetings my fellow FBINA alums. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to represent you as President this year. I am truly honored.

Another great summer conference is in the books!!! I hope everyone had a good time, made (or strengthened) new friends and colleagues, and learned from the excellent training. For those who could not make it, you missed out. We know everyone is busy, so no worries and we will see you in Concord at the fall retrainer. Registration will open later today (July 11, 2023).

Day one of this years’ conference brought financial planning for retirement preparation for a career transition from law enforcement to the private sector, social districting, and comments from a candidate for IACP 4th VP. The membership unanimously voted to endorse Will as the only FBINA graduate in the pool of candidates. Day two brought an eye-opening missing person/homicide case debriefing, updates from our national section 3 representative and 2nd VP, and our business meeting where several new members were elected to the Board of Directors. Finally, Bob Darling, LTC (ret.) USMC spoke about his experience inside the presidential bunker on 9/11 during the banquet. His presentation was both moving and comical. He brought levity to an otherwise traumatic day in our nation’s history.

We raised over $5000 for our state YLP program with silent auction items and gun raffles. Thank you to everyone who purchased the many items that were offered. Moreover, I appreciate those members who got items donated for the cause. Still, even with the money we raised, we still welcome anyone to donate to help cover the $10,000 annual cost of putting the NCYLP on.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who made this conference a success. Special thanks to 2nd VP Ken Sarvis and the New Hanover County Sheriffs Office for coordinating the local events. To you members, thanks for being part of our incredible chapter and for representing the FBINAA so professionally. You are truly what makes our alumni association special. I look forward to seeing you in Concord this September. Stay safe and take care of your people.

 Blair Myhand, 2023 NCFBINAA President
