Congratulations to Jason Sullivan (USMC), Mary Ann Bond (Durham PD), Julie Barry (CMPD), Eric Carpenter (Durham County SO), Justin Dodson (NCHP), and Kem Braden (Fayetteville PD), who will be representing North Carolina in Session 272 at Quantico.  The group received orientation at the Charlotte office on March 8.  NCFBINAA wishes them well.

Passing of Captain (Retired) Steven P. Duncan, Gastonia Police Department

Steven "Steve" Paul Duncan, 54, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

Steven was born in Gaston County, son of Rachel Broome Duncan and the late Semer Paul Duncan.

Steven retired from the Gastonia Police Department as Captain with 30 years of service. Among his many achievements, certifications, and accomplishments, he was an original member of the Gastonia Police SWAT Team and later the SWAT Team Commander, graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 202, an NRA shotgun and firearms instructor, trained instructors for the NC Justice Academy, vice chairman of the Gaston Young Guns Shooting Sports, former Jr. Director of the NC Skeet Shooting Association. Steven developed and implemented the Sniper Conference bringing business to the Gastonia area, and was State Director of NC Youth Education Shooting Sports. He instructed marksmanship training for Homeland Security. Steven was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church where he was head of security.

Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Teresa Tart Duncan; daughters, Sydney N. Duncan, Corey E. Duncan; brother, Chris Duncan and wife Jennifer and daughter Kailey; sister, Tina Duncan Brandon and husband Ray and son Ben.
