February 2023
President's Report
Greetings my fellow NA alums. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to represent you as President of this amazing association this year. I am truly honored.
2023 has already been rife with controversy with yet another incident of Officers acting far outside the scope of anything resembling ethical police work. While we all recognize the criminal nature of their conduct, we must deal with the fallout in our respective communities. I trust you are well equipped to do so and I know your agencies and communities are better off with your leadership.
As an association, we remain strong and on solid footing. Your Board of Directors have and continue to work hard to provide you with excellent training and networking opportunities. We have exciting training topics planned this year. The Spring Retrainer is open for registration and we are already talking about the summer conference. More on that to follow soon.
We are improving the way we do things and being more transparent with you. Last year, we created a NC YLP Coordinator position on the Board of Directors and appointed Chief Jimmy Crayton to fill that role. We moved to grant all board members voting rights, expanding the wisdom of our decisions with more input and debate. We changed the voting procedures to give you the sole decision on who represents you as a District Rep, Coordinator, or Executive Board member.
In the end, I want you involved in what the Board does and the decisions we make. I love this association and the men and women who fill its ranks. You make the North Carolina Chapter great. Thanks again and I hope to see everyone in April. Stay safe and take care of your people.
President Blair Myhand
